Owen Sound Reinforcement

The Owen Sound Reinforcement project began in early 2020 and completed in fall of 2020. The project required pipeline weights along with protection from a rocky trench bottom. PipeSak® Inc. provide PipeSaks® to address the weight requirements as well as 16” PipePillos® to address the rugged terrain.

PipePillos® are lightweight, in-trench supports that offer an alternative to traditional sandbag beddings. Lifting the pipeline above the rocky trench bottom, PipePillos® offer permanent support that protect the pipe’s coating from damage while decreasing the risk of ovality by up to 50% as compared to other support methods.

Unlike other supports that require workers to be in-trench, PipePillos® can be affixed to the pipe outside of the trench. This installation method proved particularly beneficial on the Owen Sound Reinforcement to maintain a safe working environment by keeping pipeliners out of the trench. 8,122 PipePillos® were placed on this project and their use kept the pipeline’s integrity true, while supplying a portable pipeline support system that prioritized workers’ safety while simultaneously saving the project time & money.
