The Borrego Wash pipeline was a temporary repair project from a creek washing out 40 feet of an in-service pipe. The pipe needed to be protected until a bypass could be installed for a permanent solution and due to large boulders in the creek bed, the pipe needed extreme protection to prevent damage. PipeDefender® Engineered Pipeline Lagging was the quickest and safest option while offering enough impact protection for this application. The contractor had assembled the panels outside of the job site using the “washer” method to ensure the panels would remain together during transport of the panels to the pipe. A total of 16 feet of PipeDefender® was installed on the pipe. The PipeDefender® will be in place over the next few months while the section of pipe is still in service before the owning company eventually reroutes the pipe as the area is further built out and developed.
