In early 2019, Epic Midstream began work on a portion of the pipeline that would run from Robstown, TX to Ingleside, TX. As part of a larger project, this pipeline would contribute to the distribution of 400 thousand barrels of oil per day (MBbl/d) to multiple terminals and refiners. This portion of the project spanned 6 miles, using 20″ O.D. pipe. The contractors on this project chose to purchase 1,750 QF20 PipeSak® Geotextile Pipeline Weights from PipeSak® Inc., to be used for buoyancy control.
Find out more about PipeSak® Geotextile Pipeline Weights
The PipeSak® Weights used for this project contained 5,000lbs of pea gravel, using the PipeSak® patented multi-chamber design to promote the integrity of the Pipeline Weight. Each bag spreads the weight of the ballast using a multi-compartment design that is safer and longer lasting than the one or two-compartment designs used by other fabric weight companies.
PipeSak® Pipeline Weights are the only geotextile pipeline weight with a multi-compartment design that is engineered to evenly distribute the weight. This design also speeds up installation and ensures integrity is maintained even in the event one compartment becomes damaged.
