Water Management Services has recently become one of the fastest growing sectors in the Oil and Gas industry. As the largest volume by-product associated with oil and gas production, produced water has created a growing demand for the development of water transportation, treatment and disposal.
Whether you call it, “saltwater”, “brine” or “formation water”; just like oil and gas lines, produced water pipelines are constructed under strict safety standards and regulations.
During construction of a produced water line in November 2020, the contractor started to encounter more and more heavy rock along their pipeline route in northern ND. To protect the 8” fiberglass reinforced line from rock damage, the contractor utilized PipeJacket™ rockshield from PipeSak®.
PipeJacket™ rockshield’s makeup of controlled random strands and lightweight material allows PipeJacket™ rockshield to stay flexible in cold environments down to -55°F, allowing for ease of installation even in cold ND winter construction. PipeJacket™ rockshield was used for dual purposes on this project: first as a protection from rocky ground while working on the pipe alongside the trench, and also installed on the pipe prior to lowering in for protection against rocky backfill.
PipeSak® was proud to supply 2.25 miles of custom cut PipeJacket™ rockshield rolls for 8” OD pipe to be utilized throughout the winter of 2020/2021 while construction is completed.
