What type of Rockshield should I use?

Choose a rockshield that can be easily modified in the field and custom cut to minimize waste and save money.

RockStop® rockshield is available in large master rolls to can be applied to a long stretch of pipeline at once or as easy-to-use and handle custom cut pads for your desired O.D. RockStop® pipeline rockshield can also be trimmed in the field and easily manipulated in any weather for quick application.

What level of impact protection do I need?

RockStop® not only passes the ASTM G13 modified test up to 6” rock, but also passed the test with 8” rock- making RockStop® the best-performing rockshield on the market for impact protection while remaining lightweight, soft to the touch and the safest to install needing no workers on the ditch side.

What is the fastest way to install Rockshield?

For installing RockStop® rockshield, you have options. Using QuikStrips due to their superior shear and peel strength is quick and easy but so is using our RockStop® heat welding method. For the fastest and most secure installation, heat-welding with a RockStop® heat tool is the way to go. This method bonds the RockStop® together in seconds, fully encompassing the pipe for all around protection and creating a permanent seal that is safe for pipeline coatings. Both options save significant time compared to traditional spiral wrapping or having to line up adhesive strips.

What is the lightest weight rockshield available?

RockStop® weighs 0.41 lb/ft² maximum, making it lighter than any traditional rockshield! This lightweight design allows for easier handling and installation without compromising on protection.

Does RockStop® Rockshield work with cathodic protection systems?

Yes – RockStop® rockshield is designed to have a high permeability, that is similar to, if not better, than the sand bedding in the trench. This means it will dry out as the soil does, making it fully compatible with all cathodic protection systems. The unique material pattern of RockStop® ensures that rocks or sand won’t get through for full protection but allows moisture to and away from the pipe without shrinking or swelling. Additionally, Rockstop® is packaged in waterproof packaging and will not get wet when in storage.
