The Borrego Wash pipeline was a temporary repair project from a creek washing out 40 feet of an in-service pipe. The pipe needed to be protected until a by-pass can be installed for a permanent solution. Due to large boulders in the creek bed, the pipe needed extreme protection to prevent damage. PipeDefender was the quickest and safest option while offering enough impact protection for this application. The contractor had assembled the PipeDefender panels outside of the jobsite using the “washer” method to ensure the panels will remain together to transport the panels to the pipe. A total of 16 feet of PipeDefender was installed on the pipe. The PipeDefender will be in place over the next few months while the section of pipe is still in service. The owning company will eventually be rerouting the pipe as the area is further built out and developed.
